Hi, my name is Don Markland. I'm the CEO and founder of AccountabilityNow, the greatest sales and marketing firm on planet earth. And I spend a lot of time in sales and I get asked all the time,
"Can I learn to love sales?"
And I have to tell you very easily.
Yes, because the problem is you don't understand what sales is.
You think sales is some narcissistic boastful extroverted thing that makes you feel gross about yourself. And I'm here to tell you sales is not that. Sales is not making yourself uncomfortable. Sales is not making yourself do things you don't want to do. Sales is presenting good ideas, good products, good services in a conversational way that convinces somebody to make a good decision.
If you're doing it in a salesy way, right? It's salesy. That's not sales. That's wrong. You should be selling in a way that convinces people to work with you, to cooperate with you, to transact with you. And when you do that the right way with the right techniques and the right coaching, you can love sales.
