Hi, I'm Dr. Adam Rosa at North Coast Optometry and a question that I get all the time is "will Scleral lenses help keratoconus?".

Scleral lenses are one of the best ways to achieve clear and comfortable vision with keratoconus.

An alternative is smaller corneal GP lenses. These lenses are similar in that they're both rigid, but they're much smaller while the insertion process is slightly different. The biggest hurdle with corneal GP lenses is that there's a long adaptation period to getting comfortable with the lens sitting on the eye and many patients don't like that discomfort for the first two weeks of wearing the lens.

To really decide which lens modality is best for you, consultation with a specialist in Corneal or Scleral lenses is needed.
